Nothing

Sitting at the outskirts

Smack in between nothing and something

My face wrinkles in experience,

Such inexperience,

This muddy path,

Filled with footsteps

I can’t even find a space to place my own

I keep stepping in their steps

Dancing, I guess, to the din of disaster

These footsteps are too big for me to fill

Too deeply drenched in darkness

This is not MY path

Not the road I choose!!

In my ear, an ocean of voices

All rising, thunderous, to wash away my soul

I remember when, in some distant summer,

Rejoicing bit at my bones,

Now winter,

This ghastly winter,

Freezes my smile

My heart has forgotten the beat pattern of joy

And their laughter, a banshee I try to banish

Burns itself into my brain………

……and I remember them effortlessly

It’s agonizing!!

This hellhole in between something and nothing really is……………nothing!!

Mount Valdis. When I first heard the name it sounded like a real nice place to be. I imagined a mountain shrouded with mist surrounded by swarms of gorillas and so many colorful birds and log cabins that they’d stack up, one on top of the other, and just about make everybody who went there burst into tears.

Momma’s hip is nagging her but she is still sitting next to me on my crumpled white sheets, all thoughts of chiropracting and Doctor Trieste out of her head as she argues with the doctors about my treatment. As far as I can see, they are planning to try something new. As far as they can see, I don’t understand a single word.

Sometimes this girl with skin the color of cracked toilet pipes and the craziest old glasses I’ve ever seen passes by my door while she’s getting her toiletries or waiting for new blue pants and a…

How Can You Cope With Stress?

Ill-health, demands from work, family crises and sometimes just the day-to-day humdrum of life’s daily routine can leave us sapped….craving for more. Many feel fenced in, as if their life is a series of involuntary movements, as if they have no control over anything. Still many others feel stuck in a twelve by twelve drab painted room.

Can you shake the funk?

Is it possible to take control of your life and enjoy it again?

Let me share with you excellent ways can reignite your internal fire:

Take time for yourself

For some this may seem impossible. A busy mother may say, “That is not possible in my house”. After a hectic day at work she may have to pick her children up from school, ensure that dinner is prepared, and everything is clean and tidy after dinner. She ensures that the children’s homework gets done; she must help them turn down for the night. That is a lot. Nonetheless, I must be frank: Self-preservation is necessary!

While the motive behind pouring yourself out for others is admirable ultimately you ARE POURING YOURSELF OUT!  That will not help the persons you are working for and it will not help you! Over-work, Continue reading

Why I Now Blog

Greetings every one my name is Melorna and this is my first blog. My desire to start my own blog sprang from my inability to score gigs as a freelance writer. I tried most of the top freelance websites and marketed my stuff. As the days, weeks and months progressed with little sign of success, however, I started to lose interest in that platform. I thought occasionally about blogging but cast it aside as fit for people who “were not me”. The excuses became many. Still interested in language and writing I thought about venturing into #SEO but due to inconsistency that did not work either. So here I am, ready to take on this venture.

I mostly write poetry and about my personal experiences and views in life, but this time I want to include so much more. I want to write about everything and anything that tickles my fancy…..so I hope you enjoy and visit frequently.

You Kiss My Brain

A mental stimulant

Sweet potent concoction

You lull me into a drugged out trance

From the depths of your soul

Flow expressions which supply rains to my prolific mind

As warms lips melt and merge

Into blissful oneness

So as we dig into the crevices of you

The concealed corners of me

I am equally, no increasingly intrigued

As you kiss my brain

Soul searching exchanges

You challenge me to remain contemporary

Yet imbued with ancient wisdom

I would lie at the banks of your cool resting place

Your flowing rivers of knowledge

Lapping up all you confer

In awe I watch you draw up your knowledge

Breathe in the richness of you……..of it

You make my knees weak babe

As you kiss my brain.
